Biography

Geoffrey originally trained as as an actor with a career that included performing at a range of Canadian theatres, among them Canada’s National Theatre and The Stratford Festival before working increasingly as a director. He dedicated much of his professional energy to the exploration of the power of language in performance, which led to his development of a much sought after practice as a voice and text coach.

Prior to coming to the UK, Geoffrey spent more than a decade as Artistic Associate and Associate Director at one of Canada’s major regional companies, the Citadel Theatre. He also spent three seasons as Artistic Director of the River City Shakespeare Festival in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

As a director, Geoffrey’s credits include the world premiere of Vern Thiessen’s Lenin’s Embalmers, as well as a workshop production at Ensemble Studio Theatre in New York, the world premiere of Shakespeare’s Will (Citadel Theatre), Man in the Stalls, (Shaw Festival Director’s project) and Back to Berlin (The Drilling Company, New York). His River City Shakespeare Festival credits include productions of The Tempest, As You Like It, A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Comedy of Errors.

Geoffrey holds an MFA in Voice Studies (Royal Central School of Speech and Drama) and an MA in Drama Directing (Bristol Old Vic Theatre School).
