Biography

Dan began his career as an assistant director in television drama and film. His assistant directing credits include award-winning productions ‘Boy A’, ‘The Mark of Cain’, ‘Appropriate Adult’, ‘The Crimson Petal and the White’, ‘House of Saddam’, ‘Birdsong’, ‘See No Evil: The Moors Murders’ and ‘Tyrannosaur’.

In 2012 Dan moved into producing with Guy Jenkin and Andy Hamilton on their comedy feature film ‘What We Did on Our Holiday’.

‘Indian Summers II’ and the final series of Chris Chibnall’s ‘Broadchurch’ helped Dan build and further establish his producing experience.

In 2017 Dan produced Russell T Davies’ ‘A Very English Scandal’ which won an array of BAFTAs, a Golden Globe, Primetime Emmy together with the Broadcasting Press Guild, South Bank Sky Arts and RTS awards for best mini-series.

As executive producer Dan worked with Andy Harries, producer Alice Pearse and James Graham on his acclaimed television adaptation ‘Quiz’.

In 2020 Dan embarked on his third collaboration with director Stephen Frears, producing Jeff Pope and Steve Coogan’s feature film ‘The Lost King’; with fellow producers Christine Langan and Steve Coogan.

In March 2022 the Theatre School awarded Dan with an Honorary Doctorate of the Arts.
